My goal for every student is to experience learning their instruments in an environment that is both encouraging and rewarding. I exhibit patience with the student knowing what it takes to develop new skills and I work hard in helping each student feel at ease in expressing themselves. I have used many different materials over the years, depending on the individual student's needs and desires to play their music. I do stress learning to read music notation so that you can approach with confidence any piece of music that you would like to play. Read More
Instruments: Piano Guitar Voice Keyboard Acoustic Guitar
I encourage my students to have notebooks, recorders, and to learn basic accompaniment via keyboard or guitar. This will help them to expand on their practices at home and feel empowered to create music on their own. I like to keep track of my students accomplishments and enjoy encouraging them along their musical journey. Each student comes with their own unique abilities, talents and training and I believe it is my duty to meet my students where they are at and gradually bring them towards where they desire to be and where I also see their greatest potential. Instruments: Piano Flute Ukulele Recorder Piccolo
Materials: Flute: Rubank Elementary/Intermediate/Advanced Method, published by Hal Leonard, along with relevant supplemental materials (solos, pieces from student's school band, duet books, etc.) Piano: Alfred Beginning Piano Series Philosophy: I believe in a collaborative approach between teacher and student. My style is based mostly in questions I ask of the student, asking them what they're thinking, feeling, and experiencing as they play certain passages or exercises. I believe in metacognitively working through the experience at an age-approrpriate level to master complete understanding of the musical instrument and the music itself. Read More

I first started teaching music in 2014. I began as a guitar instructor, then made my way into teaching piano, drums, and bass as well. I believe that the best way to teach a student how to play an instrument is to first teach them how to play music. In my experience I have found that allowing students to try several different instruments and participate in group jams with other musicians teaches them to fall in love with making music. Read More
Instruments: Piano Drums Keyboard
Music has and is still a huge part of my life. It's one of two things that I feel is worth pursuing no matter the cost. I started my musical journey at the age of 8 playing drums. By the age of 16 I started playing piano/keyboard in church and learned by ear. At Marquette University and The Institute of Production and Recording I earned A's in all my music theory classes. Instruments: Piano Guitar
My first teaching experience dates back to 2004. I started teaching at the Kathryn Brickell School for Music. on Long Island, NY. Since then, in between recording and touring, I have never stopped. Having clear set goals and a gameplan to achieve it is what I emphasize most for students at any age. This lets my students have a better gauge of where they are and where they want to go in their musical studies. Read More
