My first teaching experience came in the summer of 2008, when I served as the Music Director at Camp Robin Rogers in Spencerville, Ohio, a program serving children with developmental disabilities. This wonderful experience reaffirmed my belief that anyone, regardless of age or ability, can learn to make music. For violin and viola lessons, I start my beginning students off with the violin/viola instrument hold as well as the bow hold. Once one has gotten the feel for holding the instrument as well as the bow, I teach the student the open strings of the instrument, followed by a one octave scale, with basic note reading exercises. I have been teaching privately since 2010 and have been consistently been teaching private lessons since. I was a part of a directed teaching program at Cedarville University where my teaching was observed by peers and professors. I spent a year teaching general music to childern in Italy as well as private piano lessons. I also have experience teaching group classes and entering students in recitals and competitions. I began playing in churches when I was about13. Shortly after that, I became a full-time organist and choral accompanist. I have also directed choirs. My background was mostly concentrated on classical repertoire, but I am able to teach many different styles.
