Instruments: Piano Saxophone Music Keyboard
My teaching experience began when I was in college. I began teaching flute, clarinet, and saxophone lessons out of a music store in Upstate New York in 2016. This time was largely spent with complete beginners on their instruments, and it was incredibly rewarding. I focused on a balance of fundamentals like scales and long tones, formal repertoire such as classical and jazz pieces, and time for whatever the student was interested in whether that be pop, hip hop, or rock music. Music is a powerful tool in expanding one's understanding of academics, emotions, and culture; among a variety of other things. I began studying music in a performing arts academy at the age of 10. While there, I studied saxophone, cello, double bass, and voice. I continued to major in music throughout high school. While there, I studied within the jazz ensemble, wind ensemble, concert band, marching and pep bands, and saxophone quintet. Read More
Instruments: Piano
I began teaching during my last year of college, when I was invited to give a series of lecture-performances and masterclasses in Hangzhou, China. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it; the most rewarding parts of my China tour was my time spent coaching young pianists in music schools. I started teaching privately a year ago; though my studio is small, I am extremely dedicated to my students and their progress and I look forward to including more people in this journey. Read More

Since 1996 I have been solely committed to a career in teaching and performing professionally. My Father was an amateur jazz pianist, my Grandmother, a professional opera singer prior to marriage. My earliest memories came with a soundtrack: my Dads piano playing. I studied privately both on piano (early) and guitar (later), starting somewhere in my fifth year. I always took advantage of musical opportunities afforded me at school whenever appropriate, whether that was a school musical, talent show, battle of the bands, jazz band or music elective. I have appeared in recitals throughout Berlin, Germany and in master classes with Dorothy DeLay, Donald Weilerstein, Brian Lewis, Ruggiero Ricci, and the Tokyo String Quartet. I have also performed regularly on baroque violin and participated in a master class with Cynthia Roberts. Read More

Dependent on the instrument, I generally use essential musical workbooks as well as my own scales and exercises that create a better base to suppliment the workbooks. I find that these general books are useful to keep the student's growth on track, however, my own sound exercises alllow wind players to usually progress at a quicker rate. For more advanced students, once we have discussed what each student hopes to get out of their lessons and what they generally see themselves doing with their instruments in the next few years, we can decide what pieces to work on and what skills to develop.
