I am a passionate, hard-working singer and instructor who loves to encourage and motivate beginning and intermediate singers to become more confident in their study of music. In 2019, I graduated from Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music with my Masters in Early Music Voice, where I engaged in intense performance study of baroque and renaissance music along with many other styles. My performances and recordings have a particular focus on early seventeenth-century English and Italian vocal repertoire, which gives me the unique opportunity to allow historical research to inform my performances of the repertoire. By creating a positive and supportive learning environment, students are able to freely express themselves artistically, and learn to face challenges in order to acheive their goals. Lessons are custom made to go at the student's pace, and pieces are chosen based on the particular student's personality and interests. For beginning students, we will go over the basics of single-note playing, as well as basic chords. We will also cover basic rhythms, so they can build up to playing their favorite songs. There are also many ways to be creative with music, and we may also play some musical games to make practicing more fun. As mentioned my teaching methods are as follows. Beginners in Piano - Scales, proper fingering positions and usage, posture and accurate knowledge of reading music. Beginners in Drums - Proper usage of drumsticks, demonstrate the two postions of holding the drumstick, knowledge of basic rhythm patterns, proper height and angle of drum or practice pad, and most importantly, the study of the 26 standard drum rudiments for proper playing developiment. Vocal Techniques: Proper breathing support, demonstrating the difference between using the breath and using the throat when singing, encourage student to record their lessons for accurate practice and knowledge of hearing themselves sing, (approved by student's preference).
