I have a B.M. in Piano from Grove City College and a M.M. in Piano Performance from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro.
I have been teaching professionaly since the age of 19. It's been an unbelievable 19years. My performance experience ranges from winning college competitions, serving as pianist, organist, and music director for many local congregations, to singing in a cover band with my husband. I have a broad knowledge of musical styles and cultures. Over the past 19 years I have taught students from the young to the young at heart, students with special needs, and directed independent studies in pedagogy.
I believe that anyone can learn music and can play piano beautifully! I begin using a method book and branch out into music that they love! I love the Faber and Faber method. It combines performance, theory, technique, ear training, transposition, and so many unique skills and styles. It really gives the student the opportunity to try everything. It also allows the instructor to tailor each lesson to the student's needs. Where appropriate due to age and experience most lessons will center on technique, reading ability, artistry, and theory. One of the many great things about private instruction is that I can challenge each student where they are.
My style is a blend of fun and high standards. I am very gifted at motivating people to go beyond what they can achieve on their own in a fun way. Each lesson contains performing of old pieces, learning of new pieces, theory, and technique I believe that the student should be challenged to achieve their fullest potential while being encouraged. Lessons should be fun and upbeat with lots of energy. Students can achieve a great deal if they are challenged as well as loved, and if they are having fun!
Katie has been teaching our daughter since she was age 7, our daughter is now age 15 and has really grown amazingly well in her musical abilities, many thanks to the encouragement and talent of Ms. Katie. Katie is very gifted musically herself and also has the ability to bring out the best in her students. Our family loves Ms. Katie!
My daughters absolutely love Ms. Katie! She is an amazingly talented pianist and has a true gift for teaching children.
My son just started with Katie but she seems great so far and has a real passion for teaching piano :)

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
OkAre you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
