For other lessons, I try to tailor them to each student and find materials that fit with their unique music goals. I teach in my home studio, or I go to students' homes, which ever works best. My students have ranged in age from 6 to 85. My teaching experience includes working as Skills Instructor at a day program for adults with disabilities. There, I taught dance classes and sing alongs, meditation groups, cooking groups general life skills. I have also lead music in nursing homes for patients with dementia/Alzheimers. I have traveled throughout high school and college, along the east coast, to perform with choirs at churches, schools, and public events. Early on I stress the importance of self evaluation and critical thinking, as it is priceless to be able to teach oneself using these analytical skills. When they learn how to read the music, I always do the flash card and stickers to encourage them.
