Instruments: Piano
Through my seven years of teaching piano, I have worked with a variety of students ages 5-75. I emphasize technique and music theory alongside excellent repertoire. The student and I generally choose repertoire together, so that both of us can be excited to work on the pieces together. As a composer, I also encourage my students to create their own music. I'm a Massachusetts based pianist who specializes in both traditional and contemporary solo and chamber music. I have given performances throughout Japan, as well as solo and chamber appearances in Boston and Salzburg. Additionally, I have participated in numerous competitions, including Nakatsu An Die Music, and was awarded 1st prize, as well as receiving the Jury prize for the Gyula kiss International Competition. I'm currently playing as an instrumental accompanist at Boston Conservatory, and also playing as a freelance pianist in Boston. Read More

I am passionate about sharing my love of music with my students. Teaching my students has provided my most rewarding and joyous experiences as a musician. My students' success are what make me thrive as a performer and a teacher. They challenge me as I do them, and together we flourish. Read More

Regular lessons usually consist of reviewing exercises, etudes, and songs that were assigned from the previous lesson and then making adjustments as needed. I like to follow an outline of skills basic to the instrument and to making good music but often adjust lessons based on the student's ability and personal goals, Read More

My teaching experience has been as eclectic as my musical experiences. Over the past 2 years I have been teaching private lessons at my home studio consistently. Currently I'm looking to expanding my student-base and focus on teaching full time while finishing my final year of graduate studies. The majority of my students have been beginners ages 5-14, although I've been giving informal guitar lessons to peers for the majority of my college and graduate school time. Read More

My main objective is to steer the pupil towards a place of autonomy so they are able to solve music related problems on their own and develop the intrinsic ability already present within themselves. It is important to be able to read music, notes and rhythms etc., due to the innumberable and undeniable advantages to being musically literate (this of course extends to, depending on the level of the student, music history and theory as well). Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I like to go slow at first and see how things go lesson by lesson. I never like to challenge my students too much in the beginning because it can be rather frustrating to continue learning music. I also believe theory is very important and will ALWAYS include this in my teaching. Read More
