My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 24years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 11years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. For younger children, I typically start with the fundamentals such as distinguishing between the head voice and the chest voice. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for said student. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in both repertoire and vocal goals, and guide my instruction according to their goals. I began teaching Piano and Violin at the age of 15 to people between the ages of 4 to 65. This eventually moved on to classroom settings for strings and Chorus. One thing Ive learned from all this time is that people want to be able to actually PLAY and have FUN. I am a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. In 2004, I graduated from Hartford University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano Performance. In 2006, I graduated from Manhattan School of Music with a Masters degree in Piano Performance. Performing all over the world has been one of the greater experiences of my life as a musician, and I've had the opportunity to play both at the Zinc Bar in New York, as well as touring the East Coast as several performances as the pianist in the Artie Shaw and Cab Calloway Orchestras.
