I then pair what they learn from those with real world examples and try to incorporate that into songs that they want to play. For beginners I start with Nancy Fabers books. There are colorful pictures and notes and easy steps on how to start to play and enjoy. I had a very successful year with Nancy Fabers materials. Once the children know the music alphabet, they can play any song they like. With advanced students, I start from what they know already and continue to explore all musical elements.
