In 2016, I graduated from Cleveland Institute of Music with a Artist Diploma degree in Piano Performance. Performing all over the world has been one of the greatest experiences of my life as a musician, and I've had the opportunity to play both at the Cleveland Severance Hall and Carnegie Hall in New York, as well as touring China, Japan, Australia, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and Israel as several performances as the principle pianist with major orchestras. I have been awarded diplomas in piano performance and accompaniment from Trinity College London and the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, and did my Bachelor of Arts in Music (Piano Performance and Musicology) at the College of Charleston, SC, where I graduated summa cum laude. I graduated from the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory in 2018 with a Bachelors degree in Music Therapy. I studied percussion primarily in college, but also studied voice and piano during my time at Baldwin Wallace. During my undergraduate career, I performed with the Baldwin Wallace Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Baldwin Wallace Orchestra, and Baldwin Wallace Percussion Ensemble. My teaching experience started the last year of attending Heidelberg University when I was required to instruct a high school student drum lessons as part of my internship. After graduation in 1991 I had my first vocal student in my home. In 1995 is when I had my first experience teaching in a music store environment. The store was known as Howland's Music World and was there until 1997. I've been teaching since 2006 at Baldwin - Wallace College, where I became an Adjunct Lecturer in Piano by the recommendation of the piano pedagogy faculty in 2007.  When in town, I've been teaching students primarily from ages 5-25, in traditional repertory and to help other older musicians hone specific skills.  I've taught students who have played in recitals, church services; including students who composed music that appeared in the Cannes International Film Festival, and students who wished to only play privately.  I pride myself in my strong technique which I credit to my background with the Cleveland Institute of Music, which is one of the biggest benefits that my students quickly take on.  I specialize in teaching classical music, and I also teach basic jazz and pop improvisation, to all ages. I emphasize the importance of developing good technique and a fundamental understanding of the basic components of music: major and minor scales, arpeggios, chords, modes and chord progressions. I believe that technical facility makes it easier to accomplish musical goals while developing musicianship. I like to tailor my lessons to each student using music that the student brings to me to create lessons and exercises. My teaching style is straightforward and practical, always emphasizing the goals of each student specifically. The benefits of reading and understanding sheet music as it relates to your instrument far outweigh those of simple tablature used for guitar and banjo etc. However, in some cases it is practical to use non-traditional forms of instruction.
