Piano: I prefer Faber Piano Adventures, but I can be flexible if the student is in the middle of another series already. I have also taught the young beginner series by Faber. Strings: I use a traditional approach, but I am not tied to any particular method book. I can supplement whatever is being taught in school or the lessons can stand on their own. I have taught anywhere from Kindergarten to adult ages. Read More

I always tailor my lessons to what the student needs and wants. It is my goal that lessons to be relevant to exactly what the student is using their voice for on a day to day basis. I love bringing things out of people and their voices that they had no idea they had in them. So I will always push you further than you thought you could go- but through inspiration and encouragement (along with practical direction to help you get there!!) My goal is to get you singing tension free & guide you to realizing your voice & artistry to the fullest. Read More

I've been teaching lessons for students and also giving advise for others for 35+ years. I've been told that I have a very gentle nature. I guess it's the way I was brought up. anyway.....I teach to a students strengths and weaknesses. For example; One may have a young sax student that has very good sound right out the gate but cannot understand the language on the page. Conversely, the student that gets the language right way, but alas, the thing sounds like a duck call! those are specific issues that need to be addressed. Read More

For beginning students, I generally start with the Accent on Achievment book series and spend the first few lessons assessing and addressing the important fundamentals of the students' particular instrument. After working out of the book for an apropriate amount of time, I introduce solo repertiore from both pop and classical genres. I want my students to learn, but I want them to have fun and enjoy what they are learning. Read More

I'm a laid-back but passionate music instructor who really enjoys teaching students of all ages and all ability levels. I have been teaching regularly for 5 years and have learned immensely from the experiences myself, which I use to better teach students now. I have earned degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music and the University of Illinois, and have performed as a soloist and collaborative pianist throughout the Midwest and East Coast. Read More

Throughout the past 10 years, I have taught neighborhood kids and friends how to play the piano both beginning and intermediately. I like to encourage everybody that consistency is the key to learning (for beginners). Not necessarily practicing for long periods of time, but frequently. Better to practice for 10-15 minutes three to five times per day than for an hour or two all at once. I've found that the best foundation comes from scales. Read More
