I am sure, I was born a teacher, because when I explain anything, even in piano class, guitar or voice classes, I can see the reactions of the student when they understand me. They feel so happy and I feel so proud. From 1980 to 2013 I was piano and guitar player for a lot famous singers like "El Indio Araucano and Leo Marini and many more in the New City area. Read More

I draw inspiration largely from my Rudolf Steiner-inspired pre-college education and my Carl Orff-inspired higher education. Waldorf/Steiner education "emphasizes the role of imagination in learning, striving to integrate holistically the intellectual, practical, and artistic development of pupils" while the Orff Approach "combines music, movement, drama, and speech into lessons that are similar to child's world of play." I began teaching woodwinds when I was 18 while attending Northern Illinois University. I would help junior high and high school students in the area in private lessons. At age 23 I began teaching music courses at Istanbul Bilgi University, in Turkey. After leaving Turkey in 2001, I have focused on private lessons, teaching students of all ages and ability levels. I have been fortunate enough to perform with many incredible world-class musicians such as Quincy Jones, Phil Collins, Tito Puente, Chaka Khan, David Sanborn, Toots Thielemans, Paquito DRivera and Gerald Albright. For beginning students, the first things to learn are how to hold the violin. Setup and posture are the most important steps to avoid developing bad habits and the possibility of getting injured. Upon learning the basics of how to hold the violin and the bow is learning how to read music and sing music. If a student knows the basic setup of the violin/piano and knows how to read music then I would start them on repertoire fitted to their level. Read More

Learning outcomes in my teaching are both practical, in terms of healthy and expressive vocal production and encouraging students to “have a voice” in their own lives, in the studio and on the stage as well. Through physical practice and by the information of various other forms of voice and bodywork, I guide students toward increased physical self-awareness, freedom of breath, relief from tension, and ease of production of healthy singing from the heart. I applaud the strengths I see in my students and I make them catch up on their weaker parts. However, I dont pressure anyone too much - I dedicate some time to improving on a difficult task, but I do not spend an entire lesson drilling the same thing, for it gets exhausting and unpleasant. The most important thing is to repeat the same process consistently, even if little by little. Read More

I especially love teaching voice. I make goals and adjust to the pace of the student. While I don't believe I am too strict a teacher, I am always trying to challenge students. Besides keeping them on track with practicing the fundamentals, I encourage students to discover how beautiful and fun music is. I think my style is more learning music itself. Since I am a singer, piano player and composer, I think I more encourage my students to use their ears and to understand harmony and theory which very is useful for playing music with any instruments.
