Depending on the level of the student, there are three structures of lessons I provide.The course for beginners includes introduction to sound, keyboard of piano, touch, playing from the scores, synchronization of hands. It is taught with easy classic exercises and well-known pieces like Scarlatti sonatas,Czerni etudes and Bach's two/three voice inventions. During intermediate level course the main focus is on pedals, basic dynamics of performance, two-three voice patterns and phrasing, Finally, the last but not least, the course for advanced students includes introduction to the form of classical sonatas of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, virtuoso etudes of Chopin, Liszt, more complex articulation and more complex romantic pieces like Hungarian Rhapsodies,Ballads and Scherzi. Upon first meeting me students I like to do an informal lesson to evaluate where they are in terms of technique on their instrument, knowledge of music fundamentals (harmony, theory and rhythm). At the beginning of each lesson I believe it's important to talk about what each student has been able to work on from the lesson before and each lesson ending in goals we would like to accomplish for the next meeting. Every student is different and has their own taste in music. I hope to help every student find the same joy in playing music as they do in their listening. This requires two important aspects: development of technique/facility on one's instrument, and a sense of acheiving one's personal musical goals. I try to give every student basic exercises to work on to develop facility on their given instrument, but I tailor those exercises towards music that the student has expressed interest in learning. For beginning students, I will usually go with a methods book, requiring them to learn 5 finger patterns, and then eventually major and minor scales(all three forms). Once the student has progressed from the beginner methods book, I will suggest classical repertoire for each student based on their preferences and personal skill level. If the lessons are in person, I will have a white board where we will learn note names, chords, and other fun theory exercises. Read More

I start of my lessons by asking how much the student practiced for the week. Then I ask them if there was anything that was confusing for them so we can work on that first. I let the student pick what they want to start with first and then I will pick the next exercise.
