My teaching style is very laid back and encouraging. I love seeing a student pick up a new instrument but I usually sense a lot of nerves and bad self talk. I believe when learning anything, one should be comfortable to fail and ask questions. I try to make sure this is understood right away. I grew up in Stephens City, VA, where I started playing drum set professionally at age 16. Piano, guitar, and songwriting came soon after, and in 2005 I was awarded the Jazz Studies Scholarship from the University of North Texas to study drum set with the world-renowned educator, Ed Soph. I am now a Texas Retired Elementary School Teacher. I taught elementary for 27 years. During this time I have taught piano part time at a music store studio and currently at my own home studio. I received my Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and Specialization in Music from UTSA(San Antonio) . It brings me a lot of joy to share my love of music with my piano students.
