I believe in teaching music that the student wants to learn, whether that's the latest pop song or basic music theory which can be applied to any style. For my piano students, I prefer Alfred's piano curriculum. For my guitar students, I use Hal Leanord books. For my voice students, we work on whatever songs they want to learn or have assigned to them for a performance. For flute, I like Rubank method, but am open to other preferred methods as well. I teach Wunderkeys to pre-schoolers ages 4 5. This method gives them a head-start in math as well as patterning. I start beginner piano students (ages 6 and up) with Faber's Piano Adventures. I introduce intermediate students to Alfred's Premier Piano Course as this method starts them on solo repertoire. I find out what adult students are interested in and guide my instruction accordingly to keep them engaged. If my students are not having fun, then I'm not doing my job! Read More

I love music and have been playing for over 20 years now as well as teaching for the past 10. I have played in almost any kind of musical situation and style over the years from orchestras to jazz bands to solo guitar, etc. Many of my students have gone on to get accepted into universities and get scholarships. I've been very lucky to have so much support and help over the years and I want to pass that on to my students. Read More

I have experience teaching traditional classical piano (reading sheet music), as well as pop piano (reading lead sheets). I've had the privilege of studying under several different piano professors and teachers in the past 15 years. I draw on their teaching styles, as well as my own experience in teaching. Read More

Music has been a passion of mine my entire life. I started piano at the age of 4, flute at the age of 10, and sang throughout. I have enjoyed performing in many venues from coffee shops to churches to big music halls; functions from weddings and funerals to special dinners; and just for fun with family and friends. My undergraduate degree from Wheaton College is a Bachelor of Music with a concentration in Psychology, and my Masters is in Music Education. Read More
