I have been teaching on and off since 2010 and now teach almost exclusively from my home studio in Bloomington, IN. I've had the experience of teaching everyone from 4 year olds to advanced adult students and implemented various teaching methods for the many different minds learning styles. I love music and have been playing for over 20 years now as well as teaching for the past 10. I cater my teaching and methods to each individual student and his/her needs and goals. For beginners, I often use Hal Leonard’s Essential Elements. After progressing past that, the Rubank books and Hite etudes work for many students. Starting around 8th grade, I introduce solo repertoire appropriate to their level. For the past of ten years, I have been teaching classical piano, music theory, ear training, jazz piano, jazz history/theory, and k-12 level school bands including young winds, symphonic band and jazz band.
