I have taught dozens of piano and voice students of a wide array of ages and abilities all over the DMV for the past three years. Some of my favorite teaching moments have been to see my students achieve their goals, and I help students accomplish them by encouraging a regular practice schedule as well as to have patience. In college and graduate school, I took courses in vocal pedagogy, choral conducting, acting and stage direction in both the opera and musical theater departments, as well as music theory, history, ear training, and diction classes for French, German, Italian, and English. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I am a hard, motivated and outgoing instructor. May 2018 I will be obtaining my degree in Music Media from Norfolk a state University. Currently I am 1st chair clarinet in the wind ensemble and also Tenor sax in jazz band. I was given the opportunity to play bass clarinet and tenor sax in the schools production of “The Color Purple” as well. I am a recent graduate from Shepherd University, with a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano performance, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Hello! My name is Michelle and I have been playing the piano for 14 years. I started at a small studio like most children, just out of curiosity as to what kind of interests I could have. I ended up loving playing and performing the piano and gradually developed my skill over time, winning numerous awards and using my skills to participate in church choir and many other volunteer opportunities.
