Creative lesson planing, student motivation and individualized approach are the most notable characteristics of my teaching style. I always try to find out what inspire my students and what they love and enjoy about music. I think the most important for the teacher is to develop a passion for music in his students. Read More

My teaching style differs from student to student. With the younger students, it's all about fun. The goal is to make playing music less of a chore, and instead, have it be something they enjoy just as much as playing video games or soccer. For the adult students, and students interested in playing music professionally, I tend to give them more material at a much quick rate. Read More

For all students I access what your musical background is and what may be lacking from your knowledge and playing. I also ask what your particular goals and things you would like to learn are. Each student interested in expanding their knowledge and abilities in voice, piano/keyboard or guitar will be introduced to reading music and asked to practice the lesson plan each week at home. With practice, you will see your abilities grow stronger and stronger, and you will be able to play and sing along to music with ease. We will be working from lesson books specifically designed for you, and each weekly lesson will be documented in a notebook as a daily practice reference guide. Read More

I tend to develop my own methods as we progress, encouraging introspection by the student and developing a sense of musical independence. Success is subjective; enjoying one's journey is not. If a student is not enjoying the process then what's the use? Read More

I have assisted students with their Certificate of Merit completion, and worked several students through the entire Alfred curriculum, till they went on to achieve collegiate scholarship opportunities. As a voice teacher, I employ a Bel Canto technique, and specialize in a Musical Theater Style and Classical Background. Read More

Ive had mixed success with students singing in tune. Some have no problems. With others, Im working hard with them at recognising and singing high and low notes as well as pitch matching. From there, I teach them to play each song on the piano through imitation. Through spaced repetition and regular review, I expect them to play these pieces from memory. What Ive observed is that there seems to be a spectrum: some students have a far easier time of memorising the songs and playing them at the piano. Read More
