Instruments: Piano

For beginning young students, I typically start with Music Tree or Piano Adventure. Once the student has progressed, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire. For adult students, after seeing their level of playing, I would find the style of music that they are interested in. If students are interested in learning specific music pieces, we can focus on that until feeling comfortable and confident then move on to similar style so we can keep that interest going then move on to more advanced pieces. I have a couple semesters under my belt of private instruction as well as piano. Read More

My teaching philosophy is to develop my student’s potential. The autobiography by Russian opera singer Galina Vishnevskaya was truly an inspiration to me. One of her teachers almost destroyed her voice, while another revived it and developed to be one of the best voices of her time. That is what I strive to do when I teach my students – to realize their potential, to give them skills and knowledge, to inspire them to grow and to reach higher horizons. Read More

I start with pushing students to develop good habits early on in their playing. I like to get my students playing songs in their genre of choice as soon as possible. This method generates interest in their instrument from the very begining. I select their repetoire based on what techniques we are currently working on and find songs that will force them to develop those techniques in order for them to effectively perform each piece.
