In a 30 min lesson we do vocal warmups for 10 minutes then work on a song fir 20 minutes.Learning the proper vocal technique. It is an engaging step by step method for all ages using a wide variety of music styles. For intermediate level, I use the USC Thornton School of Music "CAGED" system scales that provides the basis in the fundamentals of improvisation. I have learned that when a student practices a mistake over and over it remains a mistake. I immediately slow the student down and concentrate on just a measure or even two notes to accomplish correct rhythm, fingerings, articulations and phrasing.
