For beginning students, I find that the simpler the methods, the better. Essential Elements is a great series for beginners, and is a good way to teach basic music theory and musical ideas. As students progress, I like to introduce solo repertoire and books that are more specific to the instrument that they are learning. I also like to find out what music the student enjoys listening to, or has a desire to play, and start to add songs in that style to their list of practice pieces. Read More

I start elementary students with learning about the piano, its history and show them the internal parts. We learn finger numbers and our first songs are using those finger numbers to encourage the correct hand position and strengthen our fingers. I build rapport with the student and introduce pieces I feel they would enjoy playing . I use djembe drums to help keep the beat steady and improve listening skills. If there's anything I've learned over the years as a piano teacher, it's that every student develops and progresses at his or her own pace. My job, if doing it well, is to work with them, at THEIR pace, while at the same time, encouraging and pushing them forward. Just as some baseball managers are regarded as a player's manager, I like to consider myself a student's coach. Rimsky-Korsakov Children's Music School in Mykolaiv helped me prepared my students for earning high scores on their academic music examinations, participate in annual national music competitions and programmed regional music recitals , with several of my students winning first place awards and continuing their pursuit of becoming a musicians at the post- secondary education level. I started playing when I was 13 and have mastered several instruments since. My forte is electric bass guitar, although I can also teach electric guitar to an advanced level. I moved to LA to go to a very prestigious music school, Musicians Institute of Hollywood. I studied in the bass guitar program winning the top bass scholarship that is given out at the school, earning my A.A.
