I started teaching in 2009 in Mississippi. I taught 6th grade band (beginner), 7th grade band, and high school. I taught in Mississippi for 5 years and just recently moved to Tennessee. While teaching, I've given private lessons to some of my students after school and to some students who did not attend my school. I always encourage doing a recital, entering competitions, and continuing on to college playing their instrument. I love motivating students and challenging them to be the best and nothing less. I was raised in a musical home in New York City suburbia. Therefore, I was constantly surrounded by the sound of music. My parents were classical violinists and my older brother and I quickly developed a love for making music. I want my students to love it as much as I did when I started studying it. When I was five, I began classical piano studies with Elena Belli at Manhattan School of Music. Read More

My experience as a teacher has been varied. I have taught private lessons to ages 8-14, taught music at the high school level for 3 years, and recently taught as an adjunct professor at the university level. At one point my wife an I owned a Music Together Franchise where we taught music to toddlers with their gaurdians. Needless to say I have taugh music to a wide range of students. Read More

I love teaching Voice and have a particular affinity for meeting the needs of the student. Every voice is unique, and should be treated as such with careful consideration. I instill pedagogical principles for healthy singing in all my students. I help students establish their goals/interests, and we achieve them through fun and engaging warm ups and appropriate repertoire. I received a Masters Degree in Vocal Performance and taught at the Collegiate Level at The University of Alabama. Read More

One of the things I am most passionate about is helping students find and develop the musical spark inside of them. It is one of the most rewarding things for me to see the progress a student makes over time, and I am sure you will learn to look at music from a new and fun perspective under my guidance. I take an approach that focuses heavily on training the ear and improvisation, as I am a firm believer in the importance of those skills. Read More

I like to spend the first lesson figuring out what the student knows so that I can formulate lesson plans that are relevant and chronological. Once a rapport is established, I introduce material that is both accessible and challenging and help the student work through the music. First we work on playing the right notes and rhythms, then we add musicality and expression. Read More
Instruments: Piano
I like to use piano methods that employ the multi-key and intervallic approach to teaching piano. Alfred's Piano Method nicely blends these two methods. To keep book costs down, the Alfred's All-in-One Piano Method (children's or adult's) is a good choice for beginning students. Alfred's method is also used by many universities and community colleges, so what you learn will nicely carry over to that environment. More advanced students can bring the method and materials they have been working with and we'll go from there. Read More
