For my beginning students who are children, I like to start with Alfred's Music books based on the instrument they choose. They are specific, yet easy for kids to follow along with, and encourage practicing by making each song fun. For adults, we journey into what the student is interested in or inspired by, and then I guide my instruction accordingly to keep our lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. I generally choose to use Faber as a method book for all my beginning students, using the age appropriate track for each student ranging from too young to read yet to adult learners. I believe that both the lesson book and the theory books are highly important and necessary. Depending on the student and their wants and needs, other books for each level may be added. Once a basic comprehension of reading music and technique have been achieved, I like to branch out into other repertoire of whichever style or styles are most interesting to the student. Read More

I am 74 years young, have been married for 42 years, have six children, two birth and four adopted from Ethiopia, live near Parker on a 5-acre property with 4 horses, several dogs and a husband. I am healthy, flexible and friendly. I play with a flutist at several assisted living facilities. Voice: In voice lessons we do not use books which allows me to fully customize lessons to the individual students needs and wants. I teach different methods of breathing, including low costal breathing and we focus on posture, sound placement, among many other fun skills.
