I am comfortable with both traditional pianos and organs and modern electronic keyboards. I do not use any textbooks or piano method books in my teaching. I am almost completely self taught, but have had success with my own methods of teaching piano. I have my own musical examples written out, which I can easily print or email for students. For beginners, I generally focus on basic technique and practice routine. Once the student has mastered some fundamentals (scales, chords, etc.), I introduce beginning level repetoire and start with basic sight-reading techniques. Read More

My teaching style places emphasis on relationship building, knowledge grabbing and demonstration. Developing a relationship includes relatability, comfort & communication. Here humor is used. I have been teaching in the St. Louis area since 2001, when I took my first Piano Pedagogy course at Webster University.  I also taught for 2 years in the Los Angeles area.  I have taught children as young as 5 years old and my oldest student was 88.  I encourage regular practice but always attempt to inspire motivation rather than enforce it.  I bring standard piano repertoire and classical literature to the table so that students can discover their preferences and have a clear sense of Music History.
