Once the students have a grasp on the fundamentals, they will then move on to solo repertoire for their first recital performance. My teaching started in the final years of high-school. I started teaching trumpet to kids. Once I started college in Buenos Aires(Argentina) in a music composition degree I worked with several masters in a multitude of instruments(violin, flute, trumpet, guitar) which i was able to start teaching and performing live. At the same time I developed a craving for movement practice and martial arts. For children and other beginners, I would start our lessons by encoding the basic function of music theory application of a drum pad. This will allow stick control and muscle memory to begin developing. As the beginner becomes more of a novice, I will introduce simple and repetitive songs and go over them as whole pieces. I tell my students that I believe that if you really want to be a singer, musician, and entertainer if you never give up eventually you will achieve your goals. Success is measured by your own happiness, short term and long term goals.
