My teaching style is this; if you have fun learning, you are going to have fun playing. Every player is at a different stage of learning, and that's what makes my job so amazing. I get to see where my students are at, and I work with each individual student knowing that I can make where they are at with guitar a fun learning experience. Learning an instrument is hard, and it takes time, but if you are having fun learning, and having fun playing, then there is no reason to quit or get discouraged. Read More

My first lesson is a casual meeting with the student (child/parent, or adult). I want to both meet and start to develop a good relationship and understanding with all involved. With younger students I talk with the parent and show them what we are working on and the logic behind it. Of course, this strategy applies to adults as well. I watch the student's progress very carefully and acknowledge accomplishments because this creates enthusiasm and further development. Read More

If your goal is to perform we can cater to that as well. Maybe you're goal is to learn enough to write your own songs. Read More

Whether you want to learn to play recreationally or more seriously, I want to help you connect with the music you perform and your instrument. I believe that music is a way for people to express themselves on a deep, energetic level; that it is Life expressing through us as well, and that it is an essential part of Life itself.  My goal is to help each student not only learn the mechanics and fundamentals of their instrument, but to also be INSPIRED by the music they're making and sometimes creating. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace with the encouragement of the teacher to encourage their musical goals with a consistent desire to progress. No two teachers teach in the same way, just as no two students will learn in the same way. A teachers style is based on their educational philosophy. Read More

I write all my own lesson materials focusing on what the student needs to know to play, understand, and enjoy music to achieve their goals. I have used several method books in the past but find them all limited or focused on styles or technique that is not what the student wants or needs to learn. I can teach from any established method if that is preferred, but instead enjoy challenging the student to understand what music is and how music is played on their chosen instrument, not just to read.
