I have been teaching music since I was a teenager. I started with my neighborhood friends, and later at a school of music, where I also hosted showcase concerts for my students. I then went into private teaching in 2009, and have been teaching student of all ages at their homes. I also taught high school choir, which was a life changing experience for me, as it gave me new insight to older children and how musical tastes evolve as they grow older. Read More
Instruments: Trumpet Trombone
Sound is the most important aspect of trumpet playing, and the good thing is you can practice pretty much anything and still focus on your sound. For beginners I usually supplement their beginner band book with some simple drills from Schlossberg's Daily Drills or some I wrote myself. The Clarke's Technical Studies and Arban's Complete Conservatory Method are great books as well that I use with most of my intermediate/advanced students. Read More

Although each student learns at a different pace and of course has a different personality, one of my favorite things about teaching is seeing their faces light up when they are able to accomplish something they've been working towards. Within teaching lessons, in my experience, has a lot to do with trust. Trust that I am leading the student towards the right direction and me trusting that they are putting the necessary work in to get to that level. Read More
Instruments: Flute Piccolo
Finding what inspires the student is an important part of my teaching. With this information I can successfully tailor my instruction to the students desires and needs. I acknowledge accomplishments which helps fuel the students desire to progress and makes them eager to learn. It is important that the student progress at their own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Nothing is more rewarding tha seeing a student develop a passion for music and for flute. Read More
Instruments: Drums Mallet Percussion Orchestral Percussion
My style of teaching is simple, I want the student to have fun with it, but be challenged at the same time. I always start my lessons by finding out why the student wants to learn the drums, to me this is very important because it allows me to figure out the best way to teach the student, as well as keep it interesting for them. Nothing is more important to me than seeing a student reach his or her personal goals on the instrument so, I do my best to help them accomplish them. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone Flute Clarinet
As a teacher, I try not to stress rote learning but instead focus on explanations for why music works the way it does. I find that music of any genre is much easier to study if you have an understanding of the framework of what you practice. To that end, I stress technical study that works towards grooming pieces or songs for performance and make sure that my students have a complete understanding of both music and their instrument.
