For young and beginning vocalists, I will typically start with assigning and working on American Art song, spirituals, folk music, songs from 24 Italian Songs, and musical theatre repertoire. I tailor my choices to each student, as each student has a different voice and way of learning. I have taught every semester I have been in college thanks to being a part of the Musicianship and Advancing Pedagogy--MAP--Program in the College of Musical Arts. I taught for the Middle School and High School Band Academy Programs. There, I taught sectional rehearsal for anywhere between 2-14 students for an hour. I cater my teaching to the students needs as an individual and their goals. I am interested in fostering their inate musical abilities, as well as the musical skills they wish to obtain. If the student is in a school instrumental program, I always defer to the band director as the student spends more time with them. I like to find out why my students want to play guitar, what they want to play, and foster their continuing growth by teaching them what they want to learn.
