For beginning students, I like to build a good foundation. I start with breathing exercises and a little mouthpiece buzzing. Then move on to a beginning book with helpful exercises as well as writing my own to tailor to the student's individual needs. I will begin to introduce solo repertoire once the student has a solid grasp on fundamentals and always encouraging them to keep practicing those key elements. When I was 8 years old, my aunt gave me my very first piano lesson. I have such fond memories of that time with her. I still remember how we would sit on the couch and I'd try to name off the notes on my music flashcards as quickly as possible so no card would be put in the back of the pile for a redo! Fast-forward a few years and I am a Bemidji State University alumna with a dual degree in K-12 vocal music education and piano performance & pedagogy and a recent graduate with my masters degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Miami, Frost school of music. I am an eager and motivated guitar instructor who loves teaching and sharing my knowledge and passion of music. This past spring, I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music. Throughout school, I performed with Pitt's Carpathian Ensemble that explored eastern European styles and tonalities. Arias maintains a roster of trumpet and piano students through both her personal studio and the Monroeville Music Lesson Center. She serves as the trumpet coach for the Pittsburgh Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, and is the trumpet instructor for the Norwin High School Marching Band. During her graduate studies, she served as the Graduate Teaching Assistant to Dr. James Stokes at the Hayes School of Music at Appalachian State University and was previously the trumpet teacher for George Rogers Clarke High School in Winchester, KY; a counselor for the Morehead State University Summer Arts Academy; and an instructor for the West Union Performing Arts Camp.
