Overview:

Hello everyone! My name is Michael and I am currently in a band. My passion for music came at a very young age, I understand the power of music. Kids today need music more than ever I feel. I have toured the country with my band, seeing how music really does bring people. Music to me is the most real form of art. We'll be able to see success in a short period of time Witnessing people play a chord on the guitar for the first time correctly is an amazing experience. Let's help change the world. Earth with out art is just, "Eh".

EXPERIENCE

My teaching lessons started back in high school, playing with the schools jam band. I'd give lessons for 20-30 minutes on scales, chords, circle of 5th and so on. After graduating high school, I moved to Los Angeles to continue musicianship. Giving private lessons in Hollywood I began to see the power of passing music along. I will never forget when I had one of my first few students bring a new song to me and played it all on his own. I was in shock by his tenacity to want to learn a song on his own.

METHODS USED

Lessons NEED to be enjoyable, almost memorable experience. My philosophy is: as a teacher, the student should want to have another lesson the following week. Meaning, having something say a scale, 3 notes, a chord, or almost a whole song really understanding and sticks to the mind. This should make the student want to learn something new the following week, continuing the snowball effect of music theory (jamming as the kids say it). Fundamental notes and scales come first. Learning what each students music preference makes teaching much more easier.

LESSON STYLE

My number one rule for teaching is patience and setting small goals each week. Every student should want to pick up the instrument days after the lesson. Seeing someone learn a song and playing it through correctly is a mini miracle. Progress through repetition and different exercises has been a high yield of success in my personal experiences. Praise for when a student fulfills a goal goes a far way in future lessons. Almost makes the students eager to continue to practice and show his peers his/her success.
