Almost all of my students attend class with smile. My instruction schedule is step by step that easy to develop skill. One term is three months after three terms, they can master notes and chords as well as many strumming and arpeggio. Also they can play many classical music and pop. At first lesson, I catch student's ability and there one needs. I make long term schedule for them and they follow my instruction schedule easily. Read More

I have been teaching private voice for five years, and I specialize in a multitude of styles, including musical theatre, legit, and pop/rock. Additionally, I have worked as a teaching assistant for Acting Through Song class at Shenandoah Conservatory, and I recently music directed a production of REEFER MADNESS. My passion for teaching begins with the students’ need for artistry. Singing is a beautiful way to express emotion and convey stories, and my job is to help the artist do so in a sustainable, creative fashion. Read More

For those who are beginning on their horns, I will be using the Essential Elements book. Within this books starts off with the basic whole notes and half notes than moves to quarter notes. Every other page adds a new note to their repertoire. For those who have been on their horns, I will be using the 2nd/3rd Essential Elements book. Those who have no trouble with those books, I will be introducing them to solo works and adding some theory in there for they can understand the basics of music and what comes with it. Read More

In addition, I consider it of paramount importance to coach performers of all levels to “make music” rather than to merely play the notes on the page: Whether the goal be to prepare him or her for solo and ensemble competitions, concert music, jazz studies or the occasional religious service, conveying the significance of everyone’s own personal interpretation of a composition while performing it is what makes music come alive. For beginner students who are children, I usually start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has grasped the fundamentals, I will introduce solo repertoire suited for his or her first recital performance. I introduce etudes to the students after the student demonstrates the ability to play several simple pieces well. For intermediate and advanced students, I typically do not let them play a piece at a certain grade level until they have finished playing one piece one grade level below that. Read More

I teach children a supplimented Suzuki method, which means I teach the Suzuki Violin Method books with supplimental repertoire in addition such as fiddle tunes and other method books. I introduce note reading from the beginning in the most simple form, and gradually teach them along the way. I use scales, arpeggios, and tonalization to establish a solid technique in my first-year students which enables them to tackle intermediate skills such as shifting and vibrato with ease. Read More

For the youngest students, I begin with Music for Little Mozarts or John Thompson method books and a lot of music related games. Flash cards assist with retention of musical terms and notes. I also provide worksheets to help reinforce what the students learn. Later I add exercises to help with rhythm and agility. Older students I begin with John Thompson method books or Bastien method books, theory books, and exercises. Read More
