As for adult students, it all depends on their level and desires.From 5 to 8 years old, the lesson takes place in a playful way. Easy hand exercises, simple rhythmic patterns, pieces with polyphonic elements. From 8 to 12 in the program there are scales and exercises by L. Ganon, J. Bach, W. Mozart, P. Tchaikovsky, and K. Cherny. Additionally, I include exercises at the intermediate skill level for mastering improvisation, playing with elements of jazz, and playing by ear and we learn popular children's songs. .I am passionate about music and the transforming power it has in people's lives. I have Suzuki teacher training in Flute Book one from East Tennesse University in 1996. I have my Masters in Education from Lehigh University. Currently I am the Music Specialist for Lehigh University's Child Care Center, and I direct the Youth Choir at St. Theresa Parish in Hellertown. All students regardless of goals will learn fundamentals of music theory as well as flute tone and technique. My method when teaching students that are starters (kids) i used books like teaching little fingers to play piano and john Thompson which introduce learning of notes, their instrument, posture, and rhythm. Most of these books are in sets and will take the student to an advanced bigger player! From here I incorporate a method of learning at least 3-4 pieces ( A piece that has mostly a melodic line, a piece that concerns more of rhythmic exercises and then to a last piece which is a study) i will also top it up with scales and arpeggios and also a sense of knowing your instrument overall, listening , Aural and also incorporate sight reading . I teach students to transfer my extensive knowledge of music to anybody that is willing to learn. I started playing guitar when I was 12 years old. Later on in life, I started playing bass, banjo, ukulele and mandolin. I play in several different orchestras and bands. My orchestra playing involves a local theater company, as well as various high schools.
