One of the things I find encourages students to practice is to give them mini rewards when they successfully play a piece or etude, such as stickers or stamps. I use what I like to call the 'journal method' in my teaching. At the end of each lesson, according to the progress a student has made, I will write a number of assignments in a journal the student brings every week. This way, a student can move forward in some techniques while giving more focus to another area that still needs a little work. I currently teach piano lessons at Trinity under the name of Joseph’s Piano, and at That Music Place in Springboro and Bella Musica in Miamisburg. Some of my past performances include piano accompaniment for Ohio Performing Arts Musicals and the Clark State Community College Chorus. While in high school at Springfield Shawnee, I played the pipe organ at Wittenberg University’s Weaver Chapel.
