Has been teaching for over 20years and Playing the cello for over 30 years. Have taught students of all ages
I have two years experience teaching private music lessons out of students homes. The music and instruments I have taught in private lessons include general music, voice, piano, guitar, and violin. I really enjoy getting the opportunity to work individually with students to help them achieve what they are hoping to with their music lessons and to make the experience enjoyable for them. I also have experience teaching in public elementary, middle, and high schools. At the elementary level I helped teach general music, chorus, and band. In the middle school setting I taught general music, chorus, special needs classes, and small group lessons. For high school I helped teach music theory, chorus, select chorus, small group and individual lessons.
I am a very dedicated teacher interested in sharing my love of music with others. I graduated from Marshall University in 2011 with a Master of Art's degree in Vocal Performance, I have a BA in Music; Voice and Choral Music Education from West Lberty University 2009 and I am certified in Adult Learning and Education ( Capella University 2013). With extensive experience as a soloist, chorister, and teacher; I have been featured as a soloist for many works including Vivaldi's Gloria, Alan Hovhaness’ Glory to God, Handel's Messiah, Theodore Dubois Seven Last Words of Christ, and several world premiers by rising composers including Evan Mack’s Dream of Freedom and John Sherwood’s Introduction to a Romanian musical. I have given several workshops in classrooms on African Dancing and Drumming and presented lectures on opera, singing in various genres, and life as music major. I serve as an adjudicator for WV region VI solo and ensemble festivals and maintain professional memberships in National Association of Teachers of singing ( NATS), National association for the study and performance of African American Music, (NSPAAM) National association for music education (NAfME), and American Choral directors association ( ACDA).
I am a devoted music teacher and passionate performer, who likes to inspire my students to love making music. I perform with orchestras and chamber groups all over the Pennsylvania/Ohio area including the West Virginia Symphony orchestra; contemporary ensemble, Alia Music Pittsburgh; and Trillium Ensemble, a flute, clarient, and piano trio I co-founded. I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 2006 having studied with Thomas Thompson of the Pittsburgh Symphony.
My teaching style is flexible and tailored to fit each student's unique abilities to help them achieve their fullest potential. By creating a positive and supportive learning environment, students are able to freely express themselves artistically, and learn to face challenges in order to acheive their goals. Lessons are custom made to go at the student's pace, and pieces are chosen based on the particular student's personality and interests. Students are strongly encouraged to participate in studio recitals several times a year, where they are able to socialize with other pianists and show off their new skills.

In home lessons are a convenient option for improving your musical skills, and are virtually the same in every aspect as lessons taught in a studio. Lessons are usually taught once a week and significant progress can be made in a short time. Of course, teachers will suggest that students practice every day for the best results.
Your introductory lesson is a chance for you to meet your teacher, and ask any questions you have before committing to registering for lessons. Only after you have decided to continue with your teacher would you provide any billing information for Musika. This trial lesson is a great time to discuss your current skill level and goals so the teacher will be able to work out a customized lesson plan for you.
Students taking lessons will have the chance to share their new found skills with family and friends at one of our various recital locations. Performing for a live audience enhances the student's excitement and joy for playing. Performers include a wide range of Musika's students from beginners to advanced, and ages 4 through adult.
Music helps develop a well rounded person. As a result of taking lessons, students develop a deeper appreciation of many types of music and the arts in general. Additionally, it has been proven that they also tend to score higher on language, maths, and science tests.

"My daughter has been a student with Mark for over a year. She has come so far and has learned so much in such a short time. Mark is extremely talented and knowledgeable. He is very serious, patient and super nice. If your child or if you really WANT to learn the drums, then I highly recommend Mark. He is our third instructor and the best one yet! You will not be disappointed." Michelle S.

Andrew is very encouraging and uplifting, but also isn't afraid to tell you your weaknesses. Andrew also is super awesome with scheduling. Fits around your schedule all the time. He really knows what he is doing and can help you reach your goal in the time you would like to. Couldn't have gotten a better teacher, who continually helps me grow and pushes me.

"I've been taking lessons with Richard for just a little over six months now and all I can say is that he is an amazing instructor. He hasn't followed a set one size fits all script in his lessons but has instead worked with my musical interests and at my pace in a way that is truly valuable. He has also kept things fun, interesting, and engaging even at times when I've felt overwhelmed and discouraged. This is an instructor that is truly adaptable to his students and will make sure that they get the most out of their lessons. I would definitely recommend him to anybody that truly wants to unlock their musical potential."

After signing up for lessons with David L. I knew I made the right choice. Just after a couple of weeks I didn't see him as a teacher but as a best friend. There was always a relaxed atmosphere during the lessons. He was very easy to talk to and he really listen to you. If I ever had a question he would answer. He tailors to what ever you want to do in that lesson. David L. is a great teacher and a friend. I totally recommend him for anyone

“Lynn is my music hero! She can listen to any song and write down the chords. She will adjust to make it easier or harder whatever your abilities. I have a busy schedule and often don't have time to practice between lessons and she is cool with that. She also will adjust lesson times when she is able which fits my hectic schedule. I'm glad my first guitar teacher "fired" me ....that allowed me to meet Lynn.” - Carol A., M.D., Aug 2015

I really like her. And as an adult student, a good teacher who keeps the pace up but still keeps it reasonable in terms of difficulty is really hard to find. She does a great job of explaining little detail things in terms I (as a musically challenged human) can understand. I'm having a blast! 10/10 would recommend!

Erin has been a wonderful voice/piano teacher for our 7 year old daughter. She is talented, patient, and has a wonderful demeanor. She has been consistent with her teaching in piano and voice. She keeps record of where the students leave off so that they know what to expect the following week. I would definitely recommend Erin to anyone looking for a skilled piano/voice teacher.

thank you musika and ed. I never thought of looking for an in-home lesson until I found musika. I have absolutely no hesitation that Ed is beyond capable. He's even offered to meet us at a music store to purchase the correct fitting instrument. how fabulous is that! We've also decided to extend the lesson time from 30 to 45 minutes. All this and just one lesson under our belt. He quickly understood where my daughter is at in level and her style of music. I'm thrilled as can be.

This is the 1st time I've ever taken lessons, and Robert has been a pleasure to work with. I've made quick progress and have enjoyed the process. I'm always listening for those tips that you can't find in a book. I can count on Robert to be strict on the fundamentals and am clear it will make a difference in the long run.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
