I'm originally from Venezuela and I moved to the USA to continue my music studies at Louisiana State University where I got my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Cello Performance. I have been teaching cello both in Venezuela and in the United States. I currently work as a cello teacher at Palacios House of Arts, in Baton Rouge. Since the begining, I focus on sight reading and learning repertoire strategies. I believe that if the student is capable of reading and learning the repertoire quickly, he or she will become much more motivated and the act of practicing will be something pleasant. I like my students to fell they practice because they like to, and not only because they have to. I believe that learning is incredibly individualized. Each student will have specific goals and ways of understanding instruction. Because of this, I believe that teaching should be just as individualized. I aim to teach each student in what ever way will best support them in their learning, rather than forcing all students to learn in one uniform way. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points which help students -especially younger ones- to progress and develop a passion for the piano. I earned my bachelors degree from Northwestern State University in music performance, and my masters degree in music performance from Louisiana State University. My education has culminated in an understanding of many musical styles from classical music and jazz in the double bass to funk, blues, and metal on the electric bass.
