For intermediate students, I use the Standard of Excellence book 2, and for the advanced students, I use the Standard of Excellence book 3. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points which help students -especially younger ones- to progress and develop a passion for the piano. For beginning students I focus on easily accessible music theory to tackle several key musical ideas at once; notes on the instrument, key signatures and scales, and the ability to read musical pitches and rhythms in music notation. To me it is especially rewarding to see how people (kids and adults) grow in different aspects of their lives when learning an instrument, especially the Cello.
