Instruments: Piano Clarinet
For beginning students, I typically use a combination of methods. For clarinet teaching, I like to use the Breeze-Easy method and also some materials from the Rubank method books. For intermediate or school-aged students, I like to supplement the material they are learning in school. I like to continue to use Rubank, Klose, and Rose books to continue to develop technique and musicality. For more advanced students or adult learners, I try to cater to the specific interests of the student while continuing to work on improving fundamental skills on the instrument. Read More
Instruments: Piano Organ Synthesizer Keyboard
Learning to internalize music and see its connection is done through practice and technique. As we are in permanence and music is in transience, I focus on the permanence with the student; the technique, discipline, rhythm, so the student himself/herself has the tools to transcend the piano into music. Practice is the bread and butter for improving so I always give the student lessons to do until next time we meet, focusing on technique, as that will give the student power for music reading and learning. Instruments: Violin Cello Viola
I started on violin in 4th grade and switched to viola in 6th grade. I was involved in private lessons, youth orchestras, competitions, City, District, Regional and All State orchestras while I was growing up. In 1991 I graduated from the State University of New York with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Music. From there I attended Carnegie Mellon University and received my Music Education Certification in 1995. I received my Masters in Music in 2000 from the University of Denver. Read More

My students describe me as passionate, creative, interesting, and fun! After getting my bachelor's degree in music education from University of Maryland, I taught general, band, and strings in Montgomery County in Maryland. Then I taught ukulele, keyboard, drums, guitar, band, and choir in Dayton, Ohio. Now I am excited to teach lessons in Pittsburgh. While my main instrument is saxophone, where I teach all levels, I love to teach beginners on a variety of instruments, from voice and piano to keyboard and djembe! Read More
Instruments: Saxophone Flute
I have been teaching saxophone lessons as well as tutoring music theory for the past 3 years. I am able to work with beginners up to advanced players. Also, I can offer flute lessons for beginners and those who are at an intermediate level. During lessons, I collaborate with the student to find music that interests them or what their personal goals are. I avoid piling high expectations because school already demands a lot from kids. Instruments: Piano Voice
For a beginner vocalist, I will always begin with standard bel canto vocalises. These promote, first and foremost, the health of the voice. They also build flexibility, agility, and suppleness within the vocal cords. As students advance, these vocalises become more and more advanced. The technique built in the vocalises eventually infiltrates a singers' repertoire, and appropriate repertoire choices are extremely important and made thoughtfully. Pianists begin with an introduction through scales and music theory. Read More
