I'm an educator and performer born and raised in the Boulder area. I graduated with High Honors from CU-Boulder in Jazz Performance, though I love playing all styles from Pop to Classical to Avant-Garde and Electroacoustic music. I've had opportunities to perform at the Telluride Jazz Festival, Dazzle, Nocturne, the Mercury Cafe, Berklee College of Music and numerous other jazz clubs and halls. I began teaching guitar lessons while in college. I taught to friends and family of friends who were interested in learning music, but too nervous to reach out to a teacher that they were not comfortable with. This experience really allowed me to hone my ability to teach students who had an interest in music, but lacked the experience level and confidence to step out of their comfort zone. This was a huge breakthrough for me, I really enjoyed the feeling of helping these people achieve their goals that may have otherwise been unrealized. Read More

Throughout school and up until I graduated from college, I taught private cello lessons during the summers. I have been a classroom teacher (elementary, middle, and high school, in addition to teaching adults computer programming) for the past twelve years. I thoroughly enjoy working with students of all ages and helping them meet their goals. I first started teaching and helping run brass sectionals at some local schools in 2004, but did not start teaching regualarly until I completed my degree in 2011. I find that young musicians make the most progress when playing for and with other people. I aim to make lessons fun and engaging and put a strong emphasis on playing duets. I also encourage students to enter competitions and play recitals. I have found competitions and recitals motivate students both before and after the event. Read More
