I had 3 years of piano performance experience when I was in a choir team and those were the most amazing times I have ever had. I’ve been playing drums for about 35 years. I’ve toured the entire US including some European countries. I’ve been on record labels, played many live shows of all types. I’ve also c-written songs, produced, engineered, and performed on quite a few successful albums. I started drumming in the 5th grade and continued through high school. For beginning students I like to start with the Standard of Excellence book 1. Getting through that book we would advance to Rubanks Advanced Method Vol. 1 book. Perfecting the sound and tone is key to making a piece of music sound good followed by inputting expression and giving it color to a piece making it have more characteristic than just a piece of music. I have performed in all kinds of groups including jazz bands, wind ensembles, latin groups, and even choirs. I grew up in Cozad, Nebraska which is a small town, but I was influenced by so many kinds of music given this age of technology.
