If they have had training with another method, I work to blend that method with the Alfred's method during the first month or two of lessons. Once the student has learned the fundamentals, I introduce them to the solo repertoire appropriate for their level and their genre of greatest interest to them. I began teaching five years ago with a diverse studio that covered everything from musical theatre to hip hop. I currently teach at a music studio here in Jacksonville, where I have a large studio of private students as well as group music classes for elementary and preschool aged children. I emphasize exploration and curiosity and encourage my students to explore multiple genres of music.
