For beginning students (regardless of age instrument) I try to simplify the approach and work on a set of warm ups/exercises coupled with a performance piece or song that they can feel good about and lots of fun listening assignments. From there I have a few options of instruction methods that I tailor to the individual student. More intermediate/advanced students will not escape from some of the basics (metronome, scales, rudiments etc.) but will be met with many more choices of performance material based more on their individual goals. My personal influence on the student's repertoire depends on the student and their goals. I enjoy working closely with my students to discover the kind of music they like and any specific songs they want to learn. I encourage students to always be thinking of new pieces and to bring them in to work on. I love teaching people the music that most interests them, and I prepare my students for whatever venues and performances that they choose to play, always encouraging them to get out and show off their talents. Instruments: Guitar
For adults, lessons can be much more free form. If you have experience with guitar then we can go right ahead and find out where your skills lay and build from there. If you've just started, we can build from the bottom, starting with more fundamental skills and then progressing to more personally interesting music. Regardless of the age or methods I apply, I will make sure that you or your child will grow steadily, building confidence in your personal musical abilities, all on the foundations of patience and practice. Instruments: Piano Voice
My teaching experience involves both in the school classroom setting and outside in the private studio. I was given the opportunity to work as a vocal consultant at the middle school level in 2016 and coached the students one-on-one on their region competition pieces. The following year, I taught private voice lessons of which most were beginning students. My students came from zero knowledge to obtaining the ability to sing and sight-read, an understanding of the music theory, and could now say "I can sing"! Read More

My teaching style is very laidback yet focused. I'm still a student myself so I know that my students might not have time to practice every day, but at the same time, you've got to practice consistently to see results. I focus on trying to get those consistent results while still making sure my students have fun in the process. One of the most rewarding things about music is finally learning a song you've been trying to learn for a while or realizing how far you've come, and I know I can help my students reach that fulfilling point. Instruments: Clarinet
Beginner clarinet students usually start with the Hendrickson Method for Clarinet Book One. This book teaches the most basic fundamentals all the way through advanced techniques while also giving the student a chance to learn more about music as a whole. Once the fundamentals are mastered, solo repertoire will be introduced for recitals or competitions. The more involved a student is in outside ensembles or musical activities, the more variation we have in lesson time! Read More
