I've been teaching piano for over 10 years, teaching both privately and in group classes. I've taught students from 7 1/2 to 75. My passion for teaching has extended into my graduate studies, where I focused on piano pedagogy. In addition, I've spent the last 5 years working in a University Teaching Center, working with faculty members and graduate students on how to improve their classroom teaching! I graduated high school in 2004 and went on with a full scholarship at Blinn Junior College in Brenham, TX. I played first trumpet part all throughout middle and high school and even in college. I studied Jazz Ensemble with one of the top jazz musicians in Houston and have been playing guitar since I was 11. My curriculum is incremental, and well planned that can take a beginner play through the proper foundational knowledge to help them reach advanced levels and become skilled in improvisation, song writing and performing. My greatest interest in music rests in Ethnomusicology. I have a particular passion for traditional Celtic music, and am proficient in the Tin Whistles. I also dabble in traditional Native American flutes, and own instruments from Guatamaula and the indigenous tribes of Alaska. With my teaching comes a deep appreciation for music, the message it sends, and the way that music culture affects the people around us. I continue to expand my knowledge of cultural musics, and would love the opportunity to pass that knowledge on to my students. Read More
