I began teaching in 2010 as a private lesson instructor. In 2016, I began working for a teaching school in New York City. I'm now based in Northeastern Pennsylvania and looking to cultivate a community of musicians through a shared love of the craft. I have taught all ages of students, but find that I connect more thoroughly with students age 10 and up. Im big on using a metronome for all students and for them having a binder to keep all their papers. I find that if students can get down a sense of rhythm everything than falls into place which is where the meternome comes in. For instance learning a song well get down first the groove or the flow and rhythm of the song and than we work on cleaning up mistakes to make the song more accurate. Read More

I have taught privately now for over a decade, as well as in classrooms and given masterclasses to all ages. I worked with pre-K through to the collegiate level in Philadelphia. I also work in communities, bridging gaps geographically and ideologically through musical experiences. I have taught in the United States, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. My teaching experience encompasses many areas of percussion. I've been teaching private drum lessons throughout my time in college, and also served as Percussion camp counselor at Mansfield. The percussion camp at Mansfield insists vast exposure to all areas of percussion, including drum set, mallet percussion, marching percussion, steel pans, and orchestral percussion, so a wide-spread knowledge of the instruments is essential in being a counselor for the camp. The most important aspect of music, for me, is to enjoy what you are doing. I entered the world of music as an escape from my rigorous Engineering curriculum. The last thing I want is for my students to become too stressed or frustrated with their learning. Therefore, I ensure that all students go at a comfortable pace while setting challenging, but realistic, goals for themselves.
