Again, music is a deeply personal subject and I want to encourage every student to find their unique voice and love for music. My goal is to develop strong all-around music skills along with learning the technique of the instrument they chose. Every student works at a different pace, and I plan accordingly. I like to set reachable, realistic goals for students each week to develop a strong sense of accomplishment and hunger to learn more the following week. Read More

First and foremost my goal as an educator is to inspire students to have a love, passion and excitement for music by tailoring my lessons toward each student's unique goals and interests. I aim to prepare students for any situation they may encounter by providing them with a strong basis in the fundamentals of music and drumming, along with improvisational techniques, skills for ensemble playing, sight reading skills, soloing, developing excellent tone, and proper technique to play with ease. Yes for teaching piano I use Nancy and Randall Faber's books. I have used all of them. For guitar and mandolin I generally do not use a "book". As the lessons progress I might introduce a book if that is what is called for. All orchestral instruments call for the structure of a book and I augment that with my own explanations. This is true for all ages of learners. Read More

I will be taking students of all ages; young or mature. Unless the student is a very beginner, I essentially go about teaching in the same method with each individual. I WILL TEACH THE STUDENT WHATEVER THEY WANT TO LEARN. Thats right. I've found that learning music is more fun for the student when you get to play what you already know, are comfortable with, or want to learn. It works like this: if the student wants to learn a guitar solo, I will show them the fundamentals of what it takes to understand it, break it down, and execute it. Read More

Music cannot be fun if the only feedback a student gets or a teacher gives is critical. I stress the importance of comfort at the piano: no pain, no gain is never applicable to becoming a better pianist! Therefore, I encourage my students become very aware about how their physical gestures influence the sound that they produce. This ensures that students are confident and in control when approaching new, more difficult pieces of music. Read More

I have been consistently teaching private lessons since graduating in 2017. My teaching experience has typically been a mix of independent private students (typically in-home), private students obtained through an institution (in-studio), and online lessons. I’ve had the pleasure of getting to work with a wide variety of ages and personalities. I’ve also been happy to find that the students both respond to and noticeably improve from my instruction. I love seeing my students succeed and share in their joy when they have reached a goal they have worked so hard for. My biggest philosophy is creating an individualized curriculum that focuses on the student's goals and providing detailed instruction in lessons for their practice sessions. Songs and exercises are fun and sequenced in a way that makes goals attainable for the student. This keeps the students motivated to keep practicing and ultimately meet their goals. Read More
