I thoroughly enjoy customizing each student's lesson according to their learning ability and make sure they excel and have fun. I utilize most of the time the Alfred Piano method both for school age and adults. When I feel the student is ready I supplement quite a lot with the Hanon exercises,Czerny and the Master Theory workbook(this works very well with the student who also desires to learn to play by ear as well.) For repertoire I emphasize classical pieces and also help the student with pop and holiday pieces;i.e- Schumann's Album for the Young, Beginning Bach minuets,Bach and Clementi sonatinas, etc. Read More
Instruments: Bass Guitar
I began teaching when I was 15 years old, which was around the year 1984,in Brooklyn NY.I studied music at Samuel J Tilden High School and taught bass at Meyer Levin J.H.S two afternoons a week after school..In 1989 I moved to Charlotte NC, attended college and began working in various bands.I had to stop teaching for a short period of time due to my busy gig schedule. It wasn't long before I discovered that there was something missing in my life, and that something was teaching music.I have taught students from the ages of 9,which is the age that I started playing, all the way up to 60 years old.I encourage my students to practice and to have fun at the same time.I want them to not be afraid to try something such as listening to their favorite music and attempting to play it by ear. That is what I did when I was taking lessons. It is good training for the ear. When I see my students develop their craft and a love for music, that is one of the greatest feelings. Instruments: Trumpet
I have taught several of my peers and young students alike in the art of trumpet playing! My main goal in a lesson is to build the fundamentals and branch out from that basic understanding of the instrument. In any form of music, especially classical, a musician must have a firm understanding of the basics in order to excel in their musical future. My teaching on the trumpet also include a simple bit of learning on the piano as it is a fantastic way to visualize exactly what music is trying to do at any given moment in a selection. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my time as an undergraduate. As a freshman in my music education program, I volunteered to be the music director and conduct the orchestra for a production of The Addams Family Musical. The show was put on by a student organization on campus. I taught all of the actors their music. Fast forward two years later. I transferred to Shawnee State University to study musical theatre. Instruments: Piano Voice Organ Synthesizer Keyboard
I like to set attainable, yet challenging goals for each student. Ensuring that each student progresses at his or her own pace will encourage the development of a love for music. I try to acknoweldge a student's progress in order to inspire a desire to keep learning. Each lesson includes some technical exercises, a theory component, and other components pertinent to the specific instrument. For example, piano and organ students will learn scales and arpeggios, voice students will learn various breathing techniques. Read More
