I am a dedicated professional singer in the DC Metro area, and I operate Hannahs Music Studio as a way to share what I have learned through my many years of music studies and performances. I have been teaching for three years as a part time instructor out of the Music Stores network in Reston, Chantilly, and Lorton. My approach includes teaching from current artists, historically significant artists, and lessons built from drum books in a way that builds fundamentals through cognitive development and positive reinforcement. One of the most important aspects of my teaching is to make playing the drums a fun, and enjoyable experience for the student in a way that enables them to carry an enjoyable experience to whoever they may play with in the future. Having grown up in a large family, I love working with children and relate well to all ages. I started teaching private lessons when I was in college. During my masters program, I also taught chorus. I have taught private lessons for more than 15 years since I first started. I teach all different levels from beginners to advanced levels, and I have also taught student between the ages of 4 and 80. Classical music for me is the foundation which can help students with many techniques. Having traveled extensively and toured with The Smothers Brothers and Phylis Diller, I can provide insight into the practical aspects of performance and practice routines. Although I encourage the mastery of traditional Double Bass technique with the bow, I love to encourage and assist students in a variety of styles and idioms, including Orchestral Bass, Jazz, Country and Bluegrass.
