I find teaching very rewarding. The benefits of studying music are now well documented. It is amazing to see my younger students begin to excel in other areas of studies. It is also very rewarding to act as a coach with my older learners as they begin or re-aquaint themselves to their love of music. I have been able to bring students of all ages and levels of music and learning ability forward. Read More

Scientifically speaking, our brains are trained to be "goal achievers". Thus, I always ask my students what three goals we need to work on before my lesson begins. For this purpose, we can not only create efficiency in learning but also feel great after achieving the goals. Also, I care about mindfulness. Every person has one's own difficulties and challenges. Therefore, I give my students a very friendly, safe, and open-minded environment to express their emotion. Read More

For beginning students who are younger I typically start with Faber and Faber's Piano Adventures. If a student is older I will put them in the accelerated method or the adult method. I will sometimes supplement with Alfred's Premier series or Music Tree. Once a student has progressed to a certian level, I will introduce other piano literature to supplement the method book learning. I try to best fist the goals of my students whether that is starting from the beginning with traditional piano lessons or to achieve some other goal or purpose. Read More

To me as a musician, teaching is as important and as necessary to our art as performing, and it is always a joy to share that art with students. I graduated from Kent State University in 2015 with my Bachelor of Science in Music Education, followed by a Master of Music in Bassoon Performance in 2019, and recently completed an Artist Diploma from UC-CCM. Although a bassoonist primarily, I've performed with orchestras such as the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, and the Warren Philharmonic, as well as bands like the Akron Symphonic Winds, the Cleveland Winds, and the Packard Band. I have most students start with Essential Elements for fundamentals. Then I progress to solo and duet repertoire when the time a student is able to grasp counterpoint and rhythm well. Adult students can often move faster due to being able to understand the math behind music. I also try to incorporate theory and history and culture with my lessons. For piano, I use Bastien for my younger students and Farber and Bastien for my older students. Read More

My teaching style is fun and goal oriented. I like to meet my students where they are and grow from there. I spend a lot of our first sessions asking questions and learning about what makes them excited about music, who they love to listen to, who they love to sing, and go from there. I believe in building a solid technique through both technical and anecdotal examples. I want to make sure I am always focused on what my student wants to get out of our time together. Read More
