My mission is to create a space where creativity, growth, and fun come together through music. I believe that learning an instrument should not only improve your technical ability but also help you grow as a well-rounded musician. In my lessons, I focus on building the skills you need to reach your goals while helping you explore those tricky musical questions you might not have answers to yet. I carefully track each student’s development and adjust my teaching style to support your personal growth, learning pace, and musical interests. Read More

About 10 years a go, I began teaching on the side. I now have 30+ students. Some come to my home and some at a studio in St. Clair Shores. My goal is to get my singers performing as much a s possible. We have a standing performance at a local coffee house every month as well as an annual recital. I also encourage my students to audition for shows and scholarships by providing them with opportunities. Read More

For beginner clarinetists, we will begin working out of the Voxman/Gower Beginner Method Book. We will spend the majority of the first lessons learning posture, holding the instrument, proper embouchure, blowing into the clarinet, breathing techniques, articulation, and how to develop sound through long tones and exercises. During the process, basics of music reading and music theory will be taught. For intermediate to Advanced students, we will learn all scales and arpeggios using the Klose Method book. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
My teaching style is fun and effective. I find that a huge percentage of issues people face are themselves, so I employ fun techniques to overcome obstacles. An example would be a student I currently have who gets tense as she approaches higher notes- I will have her toss a ball back and forth as a distraction technique and it's amazing that a beautiful, free high note come right out! I firmly believe that students are best served when their teacher knows and cares about them. This attitude toward teaching helps me to tailor instruction to students' needs rather than following a prescriptive method. I usually begin lessons with a brief, informal conversation where we discuss the student's week and talk about things that are important to them. A strong and appropriate student-teacher relationship is the bedrock for successful goal-setting, accountability, and, of course, fun in private lessons! Read More
Instruments: Violin Music
Though I will use basic materials to give students the knowledge necessary to begin, I believe it is important to allow students to play things themselves, to make mistakes because that is how we learn. My goal is to teach people music not to show them, meaning I provide the framework for a student's improvement so the student themselves can finish building the way they want to. Every student learns differently and I can effectively adapt to different paces at which students learn. supporting and acknowledging a student's progress is key. Read More
