My teaching style is based primarily on theory and practice. While every student can and will progress according to their needs, I think its important to start with basics, like how to properly hold and play the instrument. Once the basics are down, well usually transition towards learning more music theory, like scales and chord structures, and how to build a song from the ground up. For beginning students (children or adults) I begin with an introduction to the major scale and implement it into our vocal warm-ups. Once the student has developed and progressed over certain aspects I will introduce repertoire that will be learned and performed at the end. I often create my own custom lesson plans because every student is different and requires certain attention.
