While students will find that their progress is influenced by their practice habits, it's also my goal to make clear what effective practice looks like, what kinds of questions they might ask to figure things out, and how to be patient with themselves. My personal influence on the student's repertoire depends on the student and their goals. I enjoy working closely with my students to discover the kind of music they like and any specific songs they want to learn. I encourage students to always be thinking of new pieces and to bring them in to work on. I love teaching people the music that most interests them, and I prepare my students for whatever venues and performances that they choose to play, always encouraging them to get out and show off their talents. My name is Jenna G and I am currently a senior at Texas AM University (Whoop!). Music has been an important part of my life since I started playing piano in 2005. Clarinet became my primary instrument when I started band in middle school, and since then I have had incredible experiences both in teaching music and with performing. I am currently the principal clarinetist in the Texas AM Wind Symphony, but I have also had the privilege to play with the Texas All-State Philharmonic Orchestra in 2017 at the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Convention, with the AM Wind Symphony at Midwest in Chicago in 2019. For beginning students I like to Rubank: Elementary Method to learn fundamentals. After learning fundamentals and introduction to solo repertoire or etudes will be used next. I like to try and find out what interests my students and tailor my instruction around their needs, interests. As each step is mastered we will move on to the next step , I like to use the Rubank method books, for elementary method, intermediate methods and advanced methods along with Selected studies book by Voxman.
