I normally start out with the Faber and Faber Piano Adventures methods books for the piano students. This includes a lesson book and a theory book. The lesson book will teach the student the physical skill of playing piano by presenting them with leveled songs to learn. The theory book will focus more on the mechanics of music and playing and require some written work. These two methods work very well together to give the student a comprehensive experience with the piano. Read More

Instruments: Saxophone Flute Clarinet

I taught the saxophone section the basic fundamentals of saxophone, along with properly assembling and taking apart their instrument. This helped evolve my skills for new and beginning level music students to make playing instruments fun, enjoyable, and not too overwhelming or difficult to dull their desire to learn and progress. I have also performed many solos at OMEA Solo and Ensemble. In 2015, I performed the class B piece Allegro by Antonio Vivaldi and received an excellent rating. In 2016, I performed the class A piece Concert Etude by Aleksandr Goedicke and received a superior rating. In 2017, I performed the class A piece Sonata (mvt. 2) by Eric Ewazen and received a superior rating. I teach through positive reinforcement and encouragement with a set structure that allows for discipline and certain benchmarks that can determine success and mastery of certain skills. I truly believe that when students are nurtured and given a comfortable space they will excel as creating music and art is vulnerable and requires the student to let go.
