Many people remember music lessons in their youth as a time consuming source of frustration, built upon outdated music with no connection to the student's day to day life. This is why I like to divide lessons between fundamentals such as reading and theory, and apply those practices to the students' favorite songs. The greatest thing is to be able to see a student perform the music they love, so the real goal is for the student to build a repertoire of favorite songs to perform for family, friends, on-line or onstage. I offer a personalized approach to learning the drums, and customize the layout of my curriculum to meet each student's specific needs. I use many traditional teaching methods, and incorporate them into lessons, including: Bower System Moeller Stroke Stone Method (Stick Control) Reed Method (Syncopation) Chapin Method In lessons, we focus on technique, fundamentals, and grasping the basic elements of the instructional material. It is up to students to continue practicing diligently and consistently between lessons to advance their skills. Read More

Instruments: Piano

For beginning students who are children, I either utilize the "Robyn Method" (Keyboard Town); or the "Clark Method" (The Music Tree). Both methods provide emphasis on intervalic reading of notes, in addition to learning the specific names of all notes in both clefs. For adult beginners, I typically use "Play by Choice" or the Robyn Method. These methods help prepare the intermediate students for learning and playing the scales, including the Hannon exercises and playing the arpeggios. Read More

From these books, we will learn basic Sight reading, Rhythms, cordination and technique . For any of my students beyond the beginner's lever, I like to find out what their personal instrests are: A new Syle, Technique or a song that they would like to learn how to play. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
