My teaching experience comes from a variety of different sources for the last 8 years. During college, I taught at my alumni as a summer marching band assistant. During that time, I also taught trombone and piano lessons to students around the Waco area. I have also taught as a elementary music teacher for two years, and I bring those skills with me to my lessons studio. I am 23 and have been working in music since I was 11 when I started to learn mixing and DJ techniques through the internet. I did this until I was 13 and picked up guitar through my middle school's Mariachi program. I have been playing guitar now for 10 years and have played multiple genres from mariachi, punk, metal, indie, alternative, and I now record and produce music for my bands as well as others. Piano: I enjoy the Alfred books as they explore the fundamentals of piano playing and provide tips for good habits. After having a good foundation for the fundamentals, I will move on to the Hanon book which explores technical exercises, scales, and arpeggios. Students will learn repertoire that will range from contemporary genres to classical genres. Organ: A piano background would be preferred. I started playing violin at the age of 4, and started teaching at 17. In 2003, I started playing viola, and in 2005, I started learning cello. In 2010, I graduated from Stetson University with a Bachelor of Music degree with electives in Psychology. I have been teaching for over 30 years, and I love working with children. Regular practice is important so that students can see progress and reap the rewards that come with it. I meet the students where they are at, trying to work with their particular style of learning. My lessons are based in classical music, but we learn many different styles of music as they progress. The teaching association I belong to has four festivals a year, which I encourage my students to participate in, where they perform pieces and receive constructive feedback, helping them to grow as musicians and to become comfortable playing for others.
