In every student/teacher partnership I undertake, we work together to explore how the brain works consciously and subconsciously to interpret and assimilate information so that when we play the instrument we move and produce sound with integrity. Lessons are always based on questions, dialogue, feedback, and interaction in order to organically meet students needs in the most effective and positive way possible. Read More

Dan received his Bachelors Degree in Trombone Performance from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. He credits his time at Baylor University for teaching him the value of a supportive and nurturing environment balanced with hard work and dedication. Dan has had the unique opportunity to be able to study with a long list of great trombonists across the nation. His primary teachers include Brent Phillips (Marine Band/Baylor University), John Rojak (American Brass Quintet/Juilliard), and Matthew Guilford (National Symphony Orchestra). Read More

As an instructor, my job is to give the student every opportunity possible to discover their passion for music. The first lesson is always about providing a safe relaxed tone and finding out where that student's progress is. Not establishing an accurate assessment of their progress can be very destructive because it could cause me to come off as either too demanding or condescending. Depending on what their level is, I will design a custom curriculum to bring their weaknesses to the same level as their strengths. Read More
Instruments: Piano Saxophone Clarinet Keyboard
At the begining of a lesson I encourage to start by listening and running through the scales and pieces that we last worked on. Make sure they are all well learnt. Before moving on to more scales and next pieces in the selected order at the beginning of class. Aurals are a great way for me to play to my student as they learn more about the selected piece, learn rhythm and also interpreting their selected pieces. Read More

I began teaching when I was 3rd grade. My first student was kindergartner who was eager to learn piano but she could not afford to take lessons. She only paid me about 10cents per lesson but I found out teaching was enjoyable and rewarding. My next student was adult. I started having students with all ages. Although I am classically trained musician, I add modern music to help my students enjoy music. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to four years ago when I had completed my AA degree in Music and I had decided to volunteer teaching music to both my old secondary school (high school) and the Barbados Pathfinder Band recruit program which I was a Band member of. Those sessions involved teaching the basics of music theory, aural skills, the rudiments of their instruments and the practice of discipline in practicing and the maintenance of their instrument(s).Therefore I believe that I can combine those same methods plus the 'new' ones that I have enquired over the past two years to make our music sessions fun, motivational and educational. Thus causing you to look forward in enhancing your need for learning about your instrument and yourself, the musician. Instruments: Guitar Bass Guitar Electric Guitar Acoustic Guitar
My teaching method depends on what the student wants to learn, if they prefer to start learning songs first that is fine but I will still make sure to cover basic music principles in early lessons and incorporate them into the lessons. I need and expect my students to practice at least 15 minutes of per day, more if possible. This will enable me to not have to review previous lessons too much and we can move through more material quicker. Read More
